3D max Castle

This castle I made in this picture that I made using 3D studio max looks complicated, however it was made from nothing but one cylinder and one box.
What I did was, I created a basic cylinder and then I right clicked on perspective and then clicked Edged Faces, I then went to Modify then turned it into Editable Mesh. After I had turned it into the Editable Mesh I then selected Polygon and selected the top part of the cylinder but skipped one (as if it looked like a dart board when I was done). I then pulled the selected parts of the cylinder up to make it look like a sand castle's tower

Spearman

I created this spearman with 3D studio max, what I did was I used standard primatives which are boxes, clylinders and spheres.

I used the spheres to make the head, eyes and joints at the knees and elbows, I used Cylinders to make the neck, arms and legs while I used the box to make the lips, feet and body. To make the spear I made a big long cylinder and placed it on his hand and then finished it off with a cone on top.

Originallly I planned to do something similar to Urahara Kisuke from Bleach. Creating certain features such as a Hirori, hat and fan, unfortunatly proved too difficult to draw the design and I came to terms that creating such a character on 3D studio max was a bit advanced for me. So after some thinking through, I thought of the movie '300' and thought of making the spartan warriors.

Collage on four different genres

This is a collage I did on four different genres. The genres were War, Sci-Fi, Horror and Fantasy. War genre was easy to find but Horror was not so easy. How I did it was obvious really, just cut and stick. finding the images was more difficult, probably because all the decent ones (Except a Metal Gear Solid picture or two) were taken. I looked through various magazines like Edge for example, for something I might like. But that was to no success, so of course, I went with what ever is decent enough and suits the specific genre.

There are many genres in the media world but what makes the four genres I chose?

Sci-Fi Everyone knows that Star Wars is Sci-Fi. Space is what everyone knows as Sci-Fi, other things to do with Sci-Fi may be like a piece of Technology that is more advanced then our current age and technology, Weapons or abnormal effects.

Horror  Horror is more to do with gory images or depressing images or frightening images. Gory like someone getting their arm ripped off in the most horrific way possible, Depressing being a bunch of people or one in a situation to with death or something and they're suffering and they show that emotion in full detail.Frightening images are when something scary comes out of nowhere or appears in front of someone, the frightening image may be a monster, zombie or any mythical beast.

Fantasy Basically anything with a sword and a mystical setting with a mythical beast, dragon or super powers that make an effect on someone or something, things like the Force from Star Wars or the powers of a Zanpakuto from Bleach is an idea of fantasy. Fantasy is the genre where you can let your imagination run wild.
War The title pretty much says it all, but really War will contain your weapons, bombs etc, from bows and arrows to laser guns.

3D model Solid (Old) Snake

The picture here is a 3D model of the character Old Snake from Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots.

I chose this because I have been a fan of the Metal Gear Solid series since the first Metal Gear Solid. I like this game because it was written by one of the best writers I have known called Hideo Kojima, the story is thrilling on every level making you excited, scared, sad, etc on every part.

Today I learnt how to use a program called 3D studio max, with it I created a scene as shown in this picture. It has already made shapes like boxes, spheres, etc. I placed them around a plane and resized them and rotated them and moved them around until I made a city like scene. I then rendered it as a 2D image when I was finished with it
This is my blog, I am going to showcase my work I create throughout this entire course. The course is BND Games Development. I hope to go to University after I completed my course and further my education in Games and hope to become a Game designer for big gaming companies and hopefully make some of my own games.
